Safety & Regulatory Status

PROVISIONGARD® products are compliant with US Food and Drug Administration requirements under the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) and approved and registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency under Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).

In fact, the FDA approved the active ingredient of PROVISIONGARD® as a direct food additive in 1975. Classified as a biopesticide, it has been used to control insect populations in stored grain products such as corn, rice, and wheat as well as meat, milk, mushrooms, peanuts, and other foods for over 30 years.

In June 2003, the EPA announced that the active ingredient was now exempt from the requirement of a tolerance in or on all food commodities when used to control insect larvae. The EPA granted the exemption because a thorough risk analysis showed residue tolerances are not necessary to protect human health or the environment.

Documentation certifying compliance with the FDA and EPA are available through ProvisionGard Technology LLC’s regulatory councel, Garvey, Schubert and Barer, and FDA councel Keller and Heckman, LLP.
